CABLE CERTIFICATION
Cabling Certification and Audit of an Existing Cabling Infrastructure
More and more, clients have contacted BTC to audit and certify existing cabling systems that they have adopted from a previous tenant. This occurs when a leasing company, construction management group, or property manager has been asked to try and reuse an existing cable infrastructure for a new tenant that may be moving into existing space. In most cases, the previous tenant has no as-built drawings, test results or port assignment sheets available when they have relocated, leaving the new tenant with a questionable cable plant. BTC meet with the client first to determine the network requirements meet the cabling infrastructure in question. BTC then will test the entire system, ensure the labeling scheme matches all ports and certify the cabling infrastructure can be used for the new tenant’s network. BTC will handoff a Completion Package that will include all pertinent information required by the client for a certified cabling infrastructure.
Independent Verification and Validation
BTC has performed third party identification, verification and validation projects for clients that want to ensure that they have indeed purchased a certified cabling infrastructure from a previous cabling vendor. BTC reviews proposal documentation, construction documentation, test result, labeling scheme and port assignments from the client’s cabling vendor and then re-tests a portion or all of the cable ports to verify and validate the cabling infrastructure. If requested, BTC will correct any problem areas and turn over a fault free cabling infrastructure to the client.
BTC tests and validates the following systems using the latest in test equipment;
Copper Workstation Locations, Fiber Optic Cable Workstation Locations, Backbone Copper and Fiber Optic cable, Service Backbone Copper and Fiber, T-1, Coaxial Cable, and DSX cable.
